Meet Ken Roiland

Allied Inspection Services was founded by Ken Roiland, an esteemed leader in facility operations with a remarkable career spanning over 40 years. Having served school districts in roles as varied as custodian, maintenance worker, warehouse manager, and Director of Facilities, Ken has an unparalleled depth of expertise in managing and improving school facilities.

A Legacy of Influence: Ken's influence extends far beyond day-to-day operations. He contributed as an editor to the Good School Maintenance Book - an invaluable resource published by the Illinois Association of School Boards - and developed training programs adopted statewide by the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) for their Facility Operations Program (FOP). His reputation as a thought leader even reached Alaska, where he helped create a similar program to elevate standards in facility management.

Ken also played a pivotal role as one of the original five instructors for the Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) and Certified Professional Supervisor (CPS) certifications, delivered in collaboration with IASBO and the Association of Facility Engineers. These certifications have empowered countless professionals in facility operations, cementing Ken's legacy as a mentor and educator. In 2019, Ken was honored with IASBO's prestigious Light House Award, recognizing his groundbreaking practices and significant contributions to school business management-a distinction awarded only to trailblazers whose ideas have far-reaching impact.

Ken's leadership wasn't confined to operations alone. As Board President of the Schools of Illinois Purchasing Cooperative for over 15 years, he grew membership from just 5 to over 550 schools, demonstrating his exceptional ability to innovate and build trusted collaborations. Even after retiring from Illinois public schools in 2020, Ken continued to make waves, joining Sodexo to help retain high-value accounts across the country through his expertise in turnaround strategies.

Our Mission

Allied Inspection Services: A Partnership for Excellence in School Safety and Efficiency

At Allied Inspection Services, our mission is clear: to support schools in meeting their obligations for safety, compliance, and manufacturer-recommended inspections. We provide a comprehensive solution that not only meets the needs of building inspectors but also enables schools to refocus their internal resources on the critical task of maintaining and serving the daily needs of students and staff.

Our Story

Throughout his extensive career, Ken identified a recurring issue: schools often struggled to manage the 55+ required inspections and tests mandated in Illinois. Challenges such as limited staffing, lack of knowledge, and shifting priorities frequently led to incomplete inspections or poor documentation-jeopardizing safety and compliance.

Ken founded Allied Inspection Services with a clear and passionate purpose: to equip schools with the critical resources, support, and specialized knowledge they need to address the growing challenges of facility management, safety, and compliance. Recognizing that schools are more than just buildings - they are central to community life and the development of future generations - Ken set out to bridge the gap between ever-evolving regulations and the practical realities schools face every day. His mission is rooted in a deep commitment to creating safer, more efficient, and well-maintained educational environments. Through Allied Inspection Services, Ken is dedicated to helping schools not only meet but exceed compliance standards, ensuring that every campus remains a secure and welcoming space for students, educators, staff, and families alike.
